Acrylic uses plastic tips that attached to the free edge of the nail with nail adhesive. A Monomer (liquid) and Polymer (powder) is combined and put over the nail bed and tip. This hardens very quickly with the air. This is the hardest of all the nail enhancement types. The nails are then shaped, buffed, and polished as desired.
PolyGel is very similar to acrylic but also has differences. PolyGel is a paste-like product that gets formed onto the nail and shaped. It uses LED/UV light to harden. Then it is shaped, buffed, and polished as desired. It is very hard when hardened, much like acrylic.

Gel X is attached to your nail with a solid Gel X full coverage nail tip. The adhesive is Gel X in liquid form. Nails are then buffed and painted over.
